SPORTS: Weekend European Football Previews

1. Chelsea vs Manchester United

‘The Blues’ are standing on top of the Premier League table with 29 points, three more than Manchester City. Manchester United, on the other hand, has gone through many ups and downs during the first part of the season and they are currently sitting in eighth place with 17.

After last week’s 4-1 loss to Watford, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been fired and Michael Carrick has jumped in as an interim manager before Ralf Rangnick takes over the club until the end of the season.

Chelsea has won nine of their last ten games in all competitions and has four wins and one draw in the last five Premier League games.

The Red Devils have lost four of the last five games in the Premier League.

The last two games between Chelsea and United finished scoreless.

The Line: Chelsea (-170) | Draw: (+305) | Manchester United (+475)

2. Manchester City vs West Ham United

‘The Citizens’ are currently second in the Premier League standings with 26 points, three less than leading Chelsea. West Ham has been the biggest surprise so far in the season as they are at fourth place with seven wins, two draws and three losses for 24 points.

Both teams have won four of their last five games in the Premier League.

The last time Manchester City and West Ham met was at the end of October when David Moyes’ team won after a penalty shootout in the Round of 16 in the EFL Cup.

City has won nine of the last ten games against West Ham in the Premier League with an average margin of 2,9 goals.

The Line: Manchester City (-355) | Draw (+460) | West Ham (+950)

3. Juventus vs Atalanta

After a 4-0 blowout loss to Chelsea in the UEFA Champions League, Juventus will try to focus on the Serie A where ‘The Old Lady’ has a disappointing season so far. Juventus is currently sitting in eighth place in the standings with four points less than Atalanta that is fourth.

Juve is on a two-game winning streak without conceding a goal against Lazio and Fiorentina but that will be tough to do when the team from Bergamo visits on Saturday as Atalanta has scored 13 goals in their last five games in all competitions.

Juventus has defeated Atalanta twice this year.

The Line: Juventus (+114) | Draw (+240) | Atalanta (+245)

4. Napoli vs Lazio

After eight consecutive wins to start the season, Napoli has lost its last two games to Spartak Moscow in the Europa League and Inter in Serie A.

Still, Luciano Spalletti’s team is on top of the standings and is a favorite in the game against Lazio who is sixth. The team from the Italian capital lost their last Serie A game against Juventus 2-0 at home.

A fun fact is that none of the last ten games between these two teams haven’t ended in a draw with Napoli winning eight of them including five in a row at home.

The Line: Napoli (-129) | Draw (+275) | Lazio (+350)

5. Real Madrid vs Sevilla

Real Madrid is on top of the La Liga standings for the first time this season and is hoping to boost their chances for a title with a victory over one of the top contenders.

Real has won seven of the last eight games in all competitions, most recently against Sheriff Tiraspol in the UEFA Champions League.

Sevilla also won in the elite competition 2-0 against Wolfsburg but played a disappointing 2-2 against Alaves in the last La Liga round which put them two points behind Real.

Real has won four out of the last five games against Sevilla with the last one finishing 2-2 in May this year.

The Line: Real Madrid (-143) | Draw (+290) | Sevilla (+380)
