THE SONG: Para Ochun.

WHO: Hector Lavoe.

WHY IT’S HOT: Hector Lavoe’s legend in the world of Salsa and Latin music is unquestioned. He has had films, documentaries, and countless articles that talk about him as a man and artist but his reverence to the Afro-Caribbean rite of Santeria and its Orishas doesn’t get discussed enough. This beautiful ode to the water Orishas, Ochun and Yemaya are appropriate at either a family party or after a Misa is conducted. This is another example of how life and art intertwine beautifully.
