DATA DEPENDENT: The Toronto Raptors’ reliance on Kawhi Leonard for scoring is no outlier

Last night, the Toronto Raptors beat the Philadelphia 76ers 92-90 to make it to the Easter Conference Finals. The Raptors relied heavily on their star player, Kawhi Leonard, for almost half of their total points. He scored 41 points. However, he shot the ball a whopping 39 times. The rest of the team combined for 50 shots. Toronto is by no means alone in relying heavily on one player, particularly during important games.
