MLB Power Rankings (Week 4): Houston makin’ moves

First, we’d like to thank you for checking in weekly with our MLB rankings.

A note on our ranking methods.. Some teams drastically move up and down on the charts — sweeping or going winless for the week can do that. We watch for records against the better teams and we also check for quality starts and clutch hitting. Analytics wise, OPS and ERA are most important.

Now for the good stuff.

The Astros have awoken. Particularly Jose Altuve’s bat. They sit on top of the rankings. The Rays continue to pitch and get timely hitting. Yelich keeps bashing the Cardinals and has the Brew Crew steady in third place. Mariners fall from grace. Not a single win last week. The defending champs continue to sink in the standings.
