The Daily Dose: Legislating climate change denial into classrooms; Ketamine-based drug approved

The joint venture formed last January between Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, J.P. Morgan CEO Jamie Dimon and Berkshire Hathaway CEO Warren Buffett finally has a name. It is called Haven. The business titans teaming up to tackle rising health-care costs.

Lawmakers across the country are legislating that alternatives to climate change be taught in classrooms. According to proponents of the laws, the issue is not the overwhelming scientific consensus around global warming. They claim critical thinking is under threat by educators that teach climate change in the classroom. According to James Taylor, a member of a climate change denial group, “We’re very concerned the global warming propaganda efforts have encouraged students to not engage in research and critical thinking,” He was referring to news reports and scientific warnings.

The government of Singapore has declared that it will be banning the use of partially hydrogenated oils in foods. The ingredient is found in food like margarine, potato chips and fast foods. They are following the example of United States, Canada, and Thailand in banning the harmful oil.

Scientists are beginning to question the accepted assumption that the continent had remained plague free until the 19th century. New scientific, archaeological, and historical findings suggest that the Black Death may have ravaged sub-Saharan Africa as early as the 14th century.

The American Food and Drug Administration has approved Johnson & Johnson’s new anti-depression nasal spray called Sprovato. The new medicine is a derivative of the party drug ketamine. According to Bloomberg, Spravato will cost $4,720 to $6,785 in the first month, and then decline in price to $2,360 to $3,540 monthly. At that price, don’t be surprised to see people popping K instead of being bankrupted, something that would likely lead even deeper bouts of depression.
