WHO: Mario.

WHY IT’S HOT: Mario had a really nice run on the charts in the aughts. More than many of his peers, he effortlessly combined vintage vocal stylings with 21 Century topics to create some really good tunes. “Somebody Else”, which featured a dexterous and passionate turn by then-newbie Nicki. Minaj was a smash. Not gonna lie, I probably shed a tear or two on my Prada sneakers listening to this one.
