MONO: “Here I Come” by Barrington Levy.

THE SONG: Here I Come.

WHO: Barrington Levy

WHY IT’S HOT:  This timeless Barrington ‘chune’ was a crossover hit when it first touched foreign in 1985.  Mr. Levy and artists like Shabba Ranks, Super Cat, and Ninjaman were the first Dancehall artists to capture the world’s attention. They paved the way for the Buju’s, the Bounty’s, the Beenie’s, the Sean Paul’s, and the Jr. Gong’s to follow. Nuff respect to the architects.

WANT MORE?: More legendary Barrington Levy on “Black Roses”.

WORDS: Greg Cee.
