THE SONG: It’s A Pity.

WHO: Tanya Stephens.

WHY IT’S HOT:  When ‘It’s A Pity” dropped it instantly became the anthem for unrequited gangster love. Tanya was a heavyweight songwriter and her sad tale of being in love with a Top Don that was out of her reach resonated heavy in the hearts of dancehall queens from Kingston to Crown Heights.  You can hear the raw emotion in every word and bar. This one was heavy.

WORDS: Greg Cee.
